MUKHAMMAJON KOSIMOV
Born on May 9, 1907 in the village of Rishtan, Kokand district, Fergana region, Russian Empire (now – a city in the Fergana region of Uzbekistan).
People’s Artist of the USSR (04/23/1941).
He studied in Kokand and Tashkent in pedagogical and cooperative technical schools. During his studies he took part in amateur performances. After graduation, he returned to Rishtan, worked as a secretary of the village council, in the district executive committee, in the district consumer union. The choice of a profession was greatly influenced by the performances of the traveling theater troupe of Hamza Hakimzade Niyazi in the mid-1920s in Rishtan, and the play “Leili and Majnun” made a special impression.
Since 1931 he has been an actor at the Lakhuti Tajik Drama Theater.
He passed away on July 5, 1971 in Dushanbe.
